The challenge

ParkMate took on the challenge of streamlining the parking experience for Les Mills Auckland City members, enabling them to seamlessly park their vehicles and focus on their workouts without any parking hassles. Key problems faced included:

Manual Payment Process:

• Members had to manually administer their parking experience, which often led to errors, resulting in enforcement notices, overpayment or unintended non-payment.
• This process was time-consuming and inconvenient, and often the incumbent technology failed or created errors in transactions.

Customer Confusion:

• Different parking platforms at Les Mills Auckland City meant varying payment systems, creating inconsistency and confusion for members.
• This lack of standardisation made it challenging for members to navigate the parking process, leading to frustration and dissatisfaction.

Limited Flexibility:

• Traditional parking systems offered limited flexibility to extend or shorten parking sessions.
• Members who needed to extend their workouts or unexpectedly left early could not easily adjust their parking times, resulting in additional charges or wasted parking time.

Operational Inefficiencies:

• Manual payment systems required a significant amount of staff and resources to manage.
• This process was labour-intensive and prone to errors, such as incorrect payments or lost tickets, adding to operational costs and administrative burdens.

ParkMate recognised the need for a seamless and user-friendly parking solution that would address these challenges and enhance the overall member experience at Les Mills Auckland City.

The solution

‍

ParkMate teamed up with R/VISION to help solve the members frustrations which involved two key areas:

1. the camera positioning and configuration for automatic session management
2. API integration work so the parking solution works seamlessly with the ParkMate app and onto the Les Mills membership platform

We worked closely with ParkMate to develop a pilot plan using the R/VISION platform that elaborated a set of experiments to undertake working through different settings for camera placement and enhancements to plate/image processing algorithm.

Lastly the API integration and integration with the AXIS LPV solution was a collaborative effort to understand and ensure that as the system scaled, it both met capacity growth requirements and maintained a fully automated solution.

Members no longer need to take any parking-related actions, such as paying for parking, or validating their tickets.
